North Chicago is about 5 to 6 miles from our shop, a short drive up US-41, and it’s home to some of the largest single institutions in Lake County by physical footprint and workforce.

Corporate campus

AbbVie’s headquarters campus in North Chicago covers roughly 570 acres, with a $380 million manufacturing expansion announced in February 2026. Abbott Laboratories’ Abbott Park campus sits nearby as well. Projects at this scale usually involve phased construction and occupancy, meaning parts of a campus stay in use while other buildings are under construction or renovation. That kind of phasing is exactly where a coordinated sign schedule and close coordination with the general contractor matters most: signage has to track the construction schedule without ever leaving an occupied building unmarked.

Military and federal healthcare

Naval Station Great Lakes, the Navy’s largest training installation and its sole boot camp, is based in North Chicago, alongside the Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center, a merged VA and Navy facility. Federal and military buildings frequently carry their own signage standards on top of baseline ADA requirements, with a formal review and approval process. We work within whatever standard governs a given building rather than assuming a standard commercial approach applies.

Higher education and research

Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science is also based in North Chicago.
